Advani, Modi to campaign for BJP in West Bengal

Kolkata: Senior BJP leader L K Advani and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi are among a host of party leaders scheduled to campaign in West Bengal during the six-phase Assembly elections starting next month. "Advaniji has confirmed April 14 and 24 as his campaign dates. Narendra Modi will campaign on April 15 and 30. Former BJP president Rajnath Singh will campaign on April 15 and 26," BJP state president Rahul Sinha said.

He said, while the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley will campaign during all the six phases, his counterpart in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj will campaign in two or three phases. BJP president Nitin Gadkadi and senior party leader Smriti Irani will campaign for four phases, veteran actress Hema Malini in two phases and Navjot Singh Sidhu in two phases, Sinha said.
"All these leaders, including L K Advani and Narendra Modi will address at least five meetings per day. They will be taken to both North and South Bengal. This way, we hope to cover most of the 294 constituencies from where we are
contesting," he said.
Stating that the party has hired three helicopters and chartered an aircraft for the campaign, he said two would be used from April 10 in North Bengal which is going to the polls in the first phase on April 18.

  1. BJP should have raised voice on Deganga riot issue which had happened on September 2010. BJP is not voicing in Bengal for the cause of CPI(M) and MC backed muslim appeasement.
