New ideas with information technology in West Bengal party organisation

The Information Technology (IT) Cell is a team of dedicated volunteers from IT and non-IT professional backgrounds who are volunteering their time and efforts in ensuring that BJP West Bengal reaches out to its people and voters using Information and Communication Technology as an effective medium of contact.
 
About IT Cell
The Information Technology (IT) Cell was formed in 2009 under the leadership of Sri Rahul Sinha, President of BJP West Bengal. Sri Manas Ghosh was appointed as the first Convener of BJP West Bengal IT Cell. But later IT Cell has started it’s function in 2010 with social networking activities and group meeting has been started in 2012.

Why IT Cell?
  • The tech-savvy president of the United States, Barack Obama has launched a weekly broadcast on the popular INTERNET site YouTube.
  • The internet and text messages were the backbone of Obama’s successful campaign.
  • Obama insisted on having a LAPTOP at the Oval office in Washington which would be a first too.
  • Many are comparing Obama to Franklin Roosevelt..who also used new TECHNOLOGY to reach out to people..that time it was the radio.
  • Now reports say Obama may even create a post of chief technology officer in his administration.
  • Technology is just one more tool in the 21st Century Politics.
  • Political parties are aggressively using Technology to stay competitive.
  • Effective use of Technology is a matter of survival moving forward.
Objectives
  • Attract IT Professionals to the Party.
  • Automation of party offices up to the District Level.
  • Advise the Party and Government on IT Policy related matters and E-governance.
  • Efficient use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to reach out to voters.
  • Spread the party’s ideology, message and commitment to the people using the platform of technology.
  • Overall, help the party to build a strong base in West Bengal.

  • Email IDs for all office bearers and active party workers.
  • Website for the party, candidates and elected members.
  • SMS services to send bulk messages to voters.
  • Automated messages to voters with pre-recorded voice messages from the party leaders.
  • Digital repository to upload and store data.
  • Communication network between district offices and state office and central office.
  • Video conferencing and Tele conferencing from state office to central office.
  • Process automation, paperless office, elimination of physical storage records, and much more.
